Local History

4th July 2023Claire Hutchinson

Class1, 2 and 3 enjoyed their day at Arbeia learning about the Roman Fort and why it is important for our local history. They handled a variety of artefacts (some actually found on site at Arbeia) and they tried to figure out what they were used for. They also created a Frieze Frame where they drew some of the artefacts in the museum and put them together to create one big piece of artwork. The children were so engaged during our walk round and found out some very interesting facts about what life would have been like in Roman times. We are so proud of their outstanding and  sensible attitude!

Dream Big Day

4th July 2023Claire Hutchinson

Dream Big Day was a huge success with an excellent effort from children (and families).  Thank you so much!  A huge A to Z of careers was covered in the ‘dress for your dream job’ event – authors to zookeepers, that is – and a lot of chat about our ambitions for the future was generated as a result.  Brilliant!

Dream Big Careers Day!

19th June 2023Claire Hutchinson

On Friday our whole school turned up dressed as our future selves. Children thought about the roles and careers they would like to have when they leave school. We had special lessons throughout the day where children found out about how to get into those professions as part of our work on promoting aspirations.
