Curriculum

Welcome to our Curriculum Page.

Curriculum Intent Statement

At Hedworth Lane Primary School, we pride ourselves on being a place of learning and of caring.

Within our curriculum offer, we aim to ensure that all children are provided with opportunities to learn the knowledge and skills as determined by the National Curriculum and also provide children with opportunities to use these skills and the knowledge to effect a positive change on their own lives and within the wider community.

Learning

To ensure our children learn effectively, our curriculum will give them the opportunity to:

  • Develop a rich and deep subject knowledge
  • Develop new skills through a variety of interesting contexts
  • Learn within a coherent and progressive framework

Our staff are dedicated and effective in supporting pupils. Our curriculum will be taught through a pedagogy that:

  • Excites, promotes and sustains children’s interests
  • Promotes problem solving, creativity and communication
  • Enables children to reflect on and evaluate their learning

Caring

Our curriculum also provides children with the opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills. To achieve this, our curriculum will give children the opportunity to:

  • Make a positive contribution to the school and local community
  • Explore ways of becoming an active citizen
  • Express their opinions on a range of different topics and issues

Information regarding specific subjects can be found below. We have recently introduced different schemes to underpin our subject specific curriculum areas. Further details can be found by clicking the subject specific boxes below:

In a small number of cases, remote learning may be provided. Work will be set on Google Classroom.
