Our UKS2 classes had a great, informative day an Newcastle’s Centre For Life. They took part in a science show where they learnt about important and fabulous inventions from the North East, they found out about brilliant satellites in space in the planetarium and took part in a chemistry lesson in the labs. Here are Class 1’s photos from the day.

Beamish

5th July 2024Claire Hutchinson

Key stage 1 had a brilliant day out at Beamish Museum. Children have been learning about what it was like to be a child growing up in Victorian Times and they had a realistic experience taking part in a lesson in the Victorian classroom.  Children loved going down the mine and learning about life in a Victorian village. They were fascinated by the town, particularly the dentist! We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and with the generous help from the parent helpers, we were able to have the most fantastic day out which the children will remember for a very long time.

Class 6 Arbeia Trip

5th July 2024Claire Hutchinson

Class 6 had an amazing time at Arbeia today where we learned so much about life in a Roman Fort. We became archeologists as we dug for clues about Roman life in the past. We toured the site and brought to life our learning about Roman forts where we could see first hand the granary, barracks and toilets. We became artists in the afternoon where we investigated and sketched a chosen Roman artefact. Finally, we explored the Western Gate, acting in the role of Roman soldiers as we tried to enter and defend the gate.

Big Sing

4th July 2024Claire Hutchinson

Hedworth Lane Choir attended The Big Sing: Discover at The Glasshouse in Gateshead earlier today. We danced and sang our little hearts out while we were there and had a fantastic time. We had so much fun singing along to all of the STEM themed songs that we only took two photographs! Well done everybody.
