Wonderful to see so many of our parents and carers attending the maths shared lesson this week. We hope you all had fun!

As part of Drowning Prevention Week, Martin from the RNLI came into school and talked to the children about how to stay safe at the beach and in the water. He shared the ‘float to live’ message . He also helped them to identify a lifeguard on the beach and explained the meaning behind the different coloured flags.

We have just received this email from our partner school in Uganda.
“Greetings from Good Samaritan School-Uganda.
Thank you so much for the good work and other services you render at Hedworth Lane Primary School. We shall continue appreciating all your efforts to make our link and partnership a success for both schools.
Sorry for the delay to send our acknowledgement for our wonderful Donation which enabled us to get a New Computer. The school management, staff, children and the parents were very grateful for your donation. Thank you so much. You are wonderful.”

Rob Keeley, an award-winning author, paid a virtual visit to school this week. Rob is a successful writer of short stories and novels aimed at children and family audiences. Children from Reception and KS1 were able to listen to Rob read one of his picture books and they had great fun joining in! Children in KS2 read short stories and extracts from his texts and loved chatting to Rob about his books. Children had great fun writing and drawing characters from the stories and Rob did say that he thought there were some budding young authors in Year 5!

The children and staff at school had an amazing visit from Stephen Miller, who is one of ParalympicGB’s most decorated Para athletes ever. His event is the club throw.
He led an assembly in which he shared all of his amazing achievements including winning three gold, one silver, and one bronze medal in the F32/51 club throw at the Paralympics. In Paralympic F32/51 discus he won one bronze medal.
He then encouraged the children to ‘get active’ during circuits in the school hall. Stephen then ended the day with an inspirational Q and A with our Year 6s.

Class 2 have been trying several different types of paper craft. We have been marbling, quilling and paper folding. Take a look at some of our finished pieces of art.

Our SSOC had a fab morning completing an orienteering challenge around North Marine Park on 26/4/24. They used their teamwork, resilience, communication and problem solving skills to find all of the missing information. Well done!

Congratulations to everyone who achieved 100% attendance during the Spring Term!

And we are especially proud of these children who have attended school EVERY SINGLE DAY since September! Well done!
