Year 3 and Year 4 Science Buddies

17th June 2025Sarah Wakinshaw

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic morning with Katie and Holly from Science Buddies. They learnt all about the significance and importance of the Port of Tyne making wind turbines which are destined for Dogger Bank. Did you know Dogger Bank, which is right here in the North Sea will be the world’s largest wind farm once complete? The children were taught how wind farms work, building on their prior knowledge from our electricity science topic and then were challenged to make their own mini turbine blades displaying effective teamwork and problem solving skills. Well done, all! They had great fun testing out their designs using wind from a fan!  They were also left inspired and enthused by the engineering careers available right here in the Northeast, just on their doorstep.
