Message from Northumbria Police – PREVENT

29th February 2024Claire Hutchinson

Organised criminal gangs target, recruit, and exploit children and young people to transport and sell drugs.

We can help disrupt this activity by spotting the signs and reporting our concerns if we notice something isn’t quite right.

The Prevention Through Education Team has created the attached e-leaflets to raise awareness. Please take a moment to read the information. A copy will also be emailed to parents and carers via parent pay.

Bart Ripon Cup

29th February 2024Claire Hutchinson
On Monday, some of our footballers took part in the Bart Ripon Cup at Washington Hub. The boys played fantastically and represented the school superbly.
Our team were almost through to the semi finals as they were on equal points with Westoe Crown in their group. Unfortunately we lost out due to goals scored. Well done to St Matthew’s who won on penalties in the final.

Helping Others

27th February 2024Claire Hutchinson

We are immensely proud of Harriet, who embodies our values of learning and caring.

Harriet found some money at the fun fair and when she was unable to return it to its owner she decided to make up two packs for people who are homeless and donate them to Hebburn Helps. She wrote a list of what she needed, went shopping for the items and even added some of her pocket money to make the money up.

27th February 2024Claire Hutchinson

We were so thrilled to invite parents in to take part in our first Key Stage 2 Reading Events this week. Class 1 and Class 2 were joined by some of their grown ups to take part in a reading lesson in class. (Apologies, I didn’t get any photos of Class 1 yesterday). It was lovely to have you join us and we look forward to hosting lots more future events!

Please check the newsletter to find out when other classes are hosting these events
