On Monday morning, 6th October, a small group of our pupils enjoyed a fantastic trip to Riverside Bowling. There was lots of laughter, great teamwork, and some impressive bowling skills on display!
Congratulations to Thea, who earned the award for the highest overall score. Every participant did brilliantly and was delighted to receive a medal for their efforts. Well done, everyone — what a great morning!
We are thrilled to annoucne that our wonderful kitchen team has been recognised with the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Local Authority! This award celebrates their exceptional dedication, creativity, and care in providing nutritious, delicious meals for our pupils every day. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the well-deserved recognition they have received—congratulations to the whole team!
As part of their ‘Shade and Shelter’ topic, Class 9 have been building hedgehog houses in Forest School using natural materials they have foraged themselves. They had to make sure that their home was built in a safe place, it needed to be secure and strong and protect the hedgehog from all weathers. Everybody showed amazing team working skills and were determined to keep improving their design to match the design criteria. Fantastic attention to detail and brilliant resilience when faced with set backs.
The new Reception classes have loved exploring Forest School over the past few weeks. We can’t wait to see how our green space changes over Autumn.
Today two police and community officers came to visit the Reception classes. They showed us their uniform, talked about their job and how they help people in the community. We loved sitting in the car and listening to the sirens as they drove away.
Class 1 enjoyed a wonderful Reading Breakfast this week! The children began the morning by sharing a story with Mrs Simpson – The Darkest Dark by astronaut Chris Hadfield. This linked perfectly with our upcoming Space topic in Science next half term, as well as our English topic of biographies, where we have been learning all about the legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong.
Afterwards, the children loved snuggling up with their grown-ups to share some of their favourite stories together. It was a fantastic way to celebrate the joy of reading while making lovely connections to our current learning.
Well done, Class 1 – what super readers you are!
This half term, Class 1 have been busy learning all about Forces. As part of their science work, the children have been investigating the difference between mass and gravity.
Using Newton Meters, they explored how the weight of an object is caused by the pull of gravity on its mass. The children enjoyed measuring a range of objects and comparing their results, helping them to understand that while the mass of an object stays the same, its weight can change depending on gravity.
Everyone showed fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm, asking thoughtful questions and working carefully with the equipment. Well done, Class 1 – brilliant scientists in the making!
What a fantastic day we had at our cross country event on 25th September! All of the children took part with great determination and showed brilliant effort throughout their races – we are so proud of each and every one of them.
A special congratulations goes to Martha (Year 4) who won her race, and to Frankie (Year 4) who also stormed to victory in his race.
We are also delighted to share that the Year 4 girls’ team came first in their team event – a huge well done to Martha, Rae, Daisy and Sadie for their amazing teamwork and perseverance.
It was a day filled with enthusiasm, sportsmanship and fantastic achievements – well done everyone!
This term, Class 2 are developing their understanding of pneumatics. Here they have been making boxes “talk” using syringes, tubing and balloons.
